Life in a Week...

Participating Teachers

Step 1
Contact us by completing the form on the Life in a Week JOIN US page. Also, review the Trust Monitor Policy on the DOCUMENTATION page.
Step 2
Establish the timeline and schedule with the Life in a Week global project coordinator. The project will take the students one week to complete. The project start date and deadline will be decided between the global project coordinator and the participating teacher.
Step 3
Exchange the student information needed to the Life in a Week project coordinator to create the VoiceThread accounts and create participation teams.
Step 4
Assign the project to the students. See the next steps on the right column.
Step 5
Chat with us using Google Hangout so our teams can meet and discuss the experience.

Students who complete the assignment will receive full credit. They must complete both parts of the video, "Daily Routine" and "Outstanding Event". Participation in the chat will be subject to available time and not mandatory. Students may also post a comment on the blog or VoiceThread.

Step 1
Complete Talent Release forms and read the Trust Monitor Policy on the DOCUMENTATION page.
Step 2
Take  five to seven pictures that represent your daily routine.
Photo 1 - How do you start your day?
Photo 2 - What do you have for breakfast?
Photo 3 - How do you get to school?
Photo 4 - What is your class schedule?
Photo 5 - What is lunch like?
Photo 6 - How much homework do you have?
Photo 7 - What do you do relax after school?
Step 3
Write a short narrative about your "Daily Routine". This will be the script for your voice over. Read it back to yourself to make sure it is no longer than one minute.
Step 4
Think of a moment that will be exciting, challenging, fun, unique, adventurous, etc. Take seven more photos the will tell the story of the event. For example, do you have a field trip this week? Is there a special guest speaker in your class? Do you have a big project to complete? (This does not include the "Life in a Week" project.) When you take these pictures, take more than you'll need and use the best ones that tell the story of the event. Try to establish the location by taking a wide picture of the location, and then take closer pictures of the event.

Step 5
Write a short narrative about your "Outstanding Event". What you write for the narrative will be the script for your voiceover.  Read the narrative to yourself  while tracking the time with a timer. Make sure the narrative is no longer than one minute.
Step 6
Create your audio and video in VoiceThread and share it with your participating school's partner. Think about the similarities and the differences in your week. Prepare a short comment to share in VoiceThread or the Google Classroom.
Step 7
Post your comments and feel free to share your experience on the Life in a Week blog.
