Who can Join
Students between the ages of 14 and 16 will create a series of storytelling pictures that highlight moments from their life in a week. The students will then take their photos and create a video montage with a voice over telling the viewers about their week. We will harness the power of cloud computing and video production through VoiceThread. All accounts will be provided by the "Life in a Week" global project at no expense to the participating schools.
About the project
The Life in a Week project is meant to share the lives of students around the world. Through experiences, the students will gain an understanding that life around the world is not that different. We are all working to better our situation and having fun along the way. By seeing commonalities in each others lives the students will learn compassion and respect for culture around the world.
ABOUT THE global project leader
My name is, Matt Stroup. I teach media and technology at Clark Magnet High School in La Crescenta, CA. I started my career in the entertainment industry making animated commercials, shorts and animated shows direct to DVD. I also co-founded a media partnership know as SquidHaven L.L.C. While at SquidHaven I expanded my skills to digital media production, networking, and system management. After seven years in media and entertainment, I had emerged as a multimedia specialist.
I was inspired to take my knowledge to the classroom and guide students who had a similar interest, hopefully, jump-starting their careers ahead of the competition. I truly look forward to connecting and sharing our stories, and hopefully making new ones!
